Banner pop ups curling
Posted by Martin Oxenham on May 2, 2007 at 3:10 pmHow do you stop pop ups from curling at the sides when open.
Just printed two on Hydrosol from Europoint with Eco sol Max Inks and they are curling a bit along the sides and won’t stay flat.
They are laminated.Scot J replied 17 years ago 5 Members · 5 Replies -

Hi Martin,
the best way to stop the curling is to make sure you laminate with very little or no brake on the laminator because any tention in the laminate will tansfer onto the print. Also i have found that if you use heat it makes the curling worse. If you are doing a lot of pop ups, try experimenting with different ink coverage, tention and heat until you find a good balance.Cheers

Yes I think it may be down to the laminate.
We have a 54" laminator and at the moment its loaded with 760 laminate as we use this more often for smaller stuff. As anyone with a laminator knows, its a pain changing over for one job. So in this instant we done it Wet by hand with "The Big Sqeegee" so no tension on the laminate so why should this happen ?. -
Hi Martin
We had this problem before but not since we found material that is guaranteed not to curl. Can’t remember where its from think it may be APS or Hexis.
Hope it helps.
Cheers. Nick.

I believe Ferrari has a product called "Decolit" which I saw at the ISA show in Vegas. It seemed to hang pretty flat, even without lamination.
