    Hi all.

Looking for advice from anyone who has, or had, latex printers.

I have an L26500. I’ve been asked if I can produce a number of 2′ x 4′ banners. These are temporary and will only be up for a few weeks. I haven’t made banners before but said I would do it as a favour for a friend. I did wonder about the ‘ready2print’ banner material as I’m not too sure that I want to invest in all of the tools/equipment required – grommets, tapes etc. Although, if I have to I will.

Could anybody recommend some ‘budget’ material that won’t melt and run all over my machince because of the relatively high temps? Would also be greatful if someone has a profile for it as well.

    Thank,

    Pete J.

can’t help with the material but for eyelets if you have a local camping/tent supplier you can buy repair kit its just a punch & holder allows you to eyelet with out investing in a machine.

If you don’t want to invest in the machinery just yet it might be better to use a trade only supplier and when your banner orders are more frequent then invest in the equipment there are lots of very competitive trade suppliers for PVC Banner printing.

as has been said by others, if not doing them just yet, you could buy in from a trade supplier.
Try James at Group 101, he is a UKSG trade supplier and will see you right on price too. 😉

other than that, you will get compatible media from all reputable banner media suppliers.
HP website lists loads along with profile downloads.
Do not go for budget cheap banner media as it doesn’t react well to the heat from the printers. but to be honest, i see zero point in selling that type of media.

Having owned the 26500 up until last month I’ve got to say that its the most finicky thing to try and run on it.

I found two products that work ok, the 550gsm outdoor banner that Allprint sell or the 500gsm LX latex specific banner that Paper Graphics sell, both are very competitive price wise and give pretty reasonable results.

I would stress though if your planning on printing solid colours especially dark, like black backgrounds you will need the ability to customize the profile which some rips don’t let you. I can probably give you the profile settings to customise a standard banner profile, if your running the caldera rip then I have a custom profile for the Paper Graphics media that was profiled on my 26500 specifically for their media.
