& maybe an aluminium pole threaded on the wire, slide the banner on, like a scaffolding banner? And make padded collars for protection of the columns.

Thanks for the reply Richard,
its fixed with steel cable at the moment but cant get enough tension to stop it from sagging no matter hows hard its pulled, the banner will just keep sagging. I tried this the the banner that was up there this morning to "help them out" but nothing.

Are you using adjustable turnbuckles to create the tension in the wires ? We’ve done loads like this and never really had a problem. The only other suggestion I could offer is to maybe stitch a couple of ratchet straps to the banner top and bottom. . but this would only ever be as strong as the stitching. .

Well, what about fabricating some clamps to go around the pillars, then fixing a rigid pole between the clamps?

Or maybe you could work out a way of fixing a rigid pole to some of the banding used on plate and post type signs.

Sorry forgot to say. . 😀
Get some flexible tubing. . thread the cable through the tubing. . ( to protect the pillar ) loop it round the pillar and then add the u -clamps make sure these are tight as possible and use 2-3 and it won’t slip.. . do this for each pillar then cut the cable to span the gap placing tensioners / turnbuckles at each end. .
Tension the whole lot up without the banner so its nice and tight. . and where you need it to be. ..
then cable tie the banner to the wire. . . snip the ends off the cable ties and the jobs done ! !

I know you said no fixing, but if you tension the wires and any wind loading how can you tell the columns are up to the job with a constant force on them.

At a glace they look tapered so you will have to stop the cable riding up.

If you have to go the cable route maybe run it through some solid uprights of box aluminium to keep the top and bottom cables spaced apart. If the columns do have a taper I would put a solid upright tight to the column also to stop them sliding and closing up the gap.

I usually use ‘D’ shackles to attach to the cable.

I would suggest using a mesh banner for this job. Less weight and windage.
