Hi All, i have put up lots of banners in various wierd places in the past and have now been given the task of fixing them on a moving advertising trailer 😕 there are plenty of options of how to do this but do any of you ingenious people have a cunning plan of how to mount these banners so they are taught and easy to put on and off? the reason they are opting for banners is because they are being used as a promotion now and again and are going over an existing advert that is used more often.

    clear as mud hey 😕

ok most of the time the ad trailer will say car wash at bla bla bla x amount of £££

the banner will say this weekend only all car washes 1/2 price ….get my drift now

    thanks

Use elasticated bungies like what you use on car luggage rack.
Clamp the rubber to the hoarding and use the hooks on the banner.

For anyone in the USA, read rubber as elastic and not condom 😀

thought of the bungee method as it would take up any any slack as the banner will stretch slightly over the weeks and months its clamping it to the trailer in a pretty way thats a problem with that me thinks

see phot of a similar trailer

thats another option i thought of as i have done a lot of screwing in the past 😉 but if they are taking the banner off the holes become worn on the trailer so you use bigger and bigger screws till they are giganticus!!!!

Use threaded cavity wall fixings, that way no wear and tear in the TIMBEERRRRR!

    Sorry, got carried away there.

George, can you put hooks on the top and the bungee method on the bottom were you can hide it? then just undo the bungee and unhook the top!

    Nick.

you can get those clips for banners that pull it taught if you havent got eyelets that the bungees can hook onto

Threded eyelets on the base – ring & closed loop end. Then cable stretched across – and fixed – Then use D shackles.

Cable can then be fixed across top and bottom and pulled taugh.

    Undo shackles job done.

I must be talking Greek again……and I thought it was only women…nope correction my gf who couldn’t grasp what they hell I’m trying to say..lol

OK George once again slowly with feeling…….noi not that kind of feeling!!

On the boards that are attached to the vehicle….fix some eye bolts..like the ones you could say fix through a ceiling. These wouldn’t cock up the existing sign. Hardly be noticeable.

Fix one either side, maybe 1 in the middle then….

Between the Eyebolts you could run a cable – This could be just top and bottom of the panel on the vehicle or closer together.

The cable could have D-shackles at each end and be made to be a tight fit at a slight stretch to make it taught.

The banner could be fixed to this by using d_shackles or such bolt. Shackle over the edge of the banner it’s bolt going through banner eyelet with the cable running through the shackle.

    Any clearer than mud George?

    Tim.

Srew it (!) to the top, -use the aluminium stips folk use for laying(! again) carpets, and have a pocket hemmed in the bottom, open on one side. Slide a length of round bar into pocket, make small (5mm) holes every 750mm or so, hook "J-hooks" through the holes, around round bar, and tighten to desired, uh, stiffness. I’d use lip channel at the bottom, since you can pull the hemmed area into the channel, hiding it from fiew. Drum tight!!.

    George
I’ve heard of banner track before, you just screw a lenght top and bottom and then you thread a bolt into the track which goes through the eyelet and then you wind a nut onto the bolt. A company called Hampshire Flag use to sell it, it means you can constantly change the banner with no problems.

Use sail track and get a rope edge welded arround your banner, make the banner smaller allowing for stretch. There are home made clamps you can make to stretch them out, I do alot of this.

    Hiya George,
How do you install digitally printed banners on billboards?
Around here, the common way is quickly becoming ratchet straps and conduit or rebar.
The banner is made with pole pockets and is slightly larger than necessary so it can "bleed" around the structure. On the back side, conduit is inserted into the pocket and the ratchet straps are used to tighten the banner to the structure.
If you want me to do a drawing, let out a yell.

I have used a system called CRYSTAL, sorry but can’t remember the companies name but they have just the thing you are looking for. Try and google CRYSTAL!

I would go away from banners, mount a flexface sign, looks better, shouldnt cost any more for a replacement fascia, and can be illuminated at night.

    Lateral thinking?

The Crystal system is a lot easier than that system. No fiddly bits just a strip of plastic and a hammer is all that is needed.

What about Positrack? Just mount it top and bottom (sides as well if you like) and it will tension the banner like a drum skin.

Easy to swap banners over as well, less fiddly than a lot of systems as it works on a sort of hinge.

You just have your banners printed, no pockets or hemming required (so cheaper!), then stick PosiTape onto the top and bottom edges. that gives a super-strong lip that will just slot into your Positrack.

If anyone wants more info, I have a pdf at work somewhere I can send out which has fitting instructions etc on it.
