Hi Guys, anyone seen anything like this before? This is printed on a roland, onto Metamark digital banner vinyl….. it’s hemmed and taped with double sided tape..

Also its a double sided banner so we have taped 2 together back to back with banner hemming tape…

    any ideas?

Is the banner rubbing up against something when in use – i.e Rust stains maybe?

Possibly dripping water from a rusty gutter ?

is there any possibility that the double sided tape could bleed back through the banner causing a stain if it got wet?

Definitely looks like something which has occurred due to something in its environment, not its construction.

that looks like rust! we use that banner all the time and put it on the side of out delivery wagons and they get rust stains which look just like after a while.

if it’s double sided is it fixed to a chain link fence?

and are the marks only on one side?

banner tape won’t discolor the banner i wouldn’t of thought mate. agreed with everyone else, looks like rust/paint rubbing onto the banner.
there’s a banner down the road from us that has been rubbing up against a street light when breezy and it has a bluish tint to it now(the light pole is navy blue).

yeah odd, customer emailed today to say that it’s been against metal railings, but he says it hasn’t happened to the previous banner that was up on the same railings..

Now i’m wondering, has this one been affected because it’s double sided and everytime it’s put on the railings its got a coated print side against it?

I would say nothing to do with the banner or the tape. Thats down to the railings.
    Not your problem mate.

If the previous banner was single sided then maybe it did happen but the customer never noticed. Who looks at the back to see if there are any marks???
The other thing is that railings rust over a period of time so maybe they weren’t bad enough for the rust to rub off against the banner when the last one was up.

Yeah I would agree with that, however the customer says that that the other banner wasn’t marked on the back, and he’s only had the new one a few weeks.. I’m going to have him bring it back so I can have a look….. it’s rather odd… I shall charge him for a reprint but will recommend that he has two single banners rather than a double sided one.
