My cadet plus has started to band quite severely at the start of a pass for about 100mm then it is okay till it gets to the end of the pass or more likely the start of the return pass for another 100mm, only black is effected, the head is firing fine on the test print, I have given the machine a clean, i’ve given it a head soak and run a couple of powerful cleans and its still doing it, any ideas anyone.

    Possibly a damper issue,

it could be a dirty encoder strip, give it a wipe with a clean damp soft cloth no solvents.

Thanks Kev & Ian, I have now cleaned encoder strip and have changed dampers for new ones and problem is still happening. Having to print everything with a black strip up the side of it to catch the banding.

    3 things spring to mind.

heaters – main ribbon cable. and contaminated material (damp got in to edges)
if a 1370mm machine i would print a 600mm wide bit centered on the material see if it still does it. if so i would guess its head related.

if good print then check heat across the bed.
check connection of cable look for damage in the top case run.
    change material.

Thanks Chris, As it happens the fault has now gone after a nights rest, which makes me think it was something to do with the damper in the end, anyhow I changed all dampers while I was about it so I shouldn’t have any trouble from them for a while, still haven’t got a clue what a damper is for.
