I have asked the same question to many companies and none were interested as it has a coating on it. Its such a waste.

I can’t find anyone who wants it either.

Best solution I could find is to compact it to minimise landfill. 🙁

It’s astounding the amount of waste this business creates between waste vinyl, backing paper and application tape.

I tried burning it but it gives off an awful smell.

I did speak to a company who would come shred the backing – Shred it & Shred easy, but minimum call out at shredeasy is £50 so not worth it unless you have around 10+ sack fulls then they charge a set price per kg.

Might look back into it when the company grows and have a regular collection to save me doing skip runs.

Just thought I’d ask the question to see what other companies did as an alternative for the backing paper recycling.

No solution as far as i know, the silicone is the stumbling block, no-one wants it.

Ill check it out , it would certainly be a winner if we could come up with something??

I use it to apply printed garment graphics when heat pressing. Put the shiny side on the vinyl, press as usual. No need to buy specific transfer products or teflon sheets!

As you all know i work from home. So I spoke with the Rep for our waste collection company and asked him could i leave out some extra bins I had acquired on the recycle days and he said yes. So every 2 weeks i leave out 3 large wheele bins wheelie i have packed backing paper, app tape, Vinyl and other recyclable waste from the workshop into. The fun part is climbing up and into the bins to walk the rubbish down into them so i can fir more.

Cheeky thing but being cheepscates on scotland we have been known to reverse roll it onto a roll again and then use it for templates for installing flat cut letters the plotter pen writes on the back and it holds it shape better seems daft but works

They must have figured out how to recycle it over here because the waste people take mine too Dermot. Almost two years now and they haven’t complained.

This paper is ideal for Stacking sheets for T Shirt vinyl sheets, 50 a4 sheets retail for about £10.00, t,shirt makers would love this as ideal way to keep and store the un pressed vinyl’s

Maybe that’s just because they haven’t yet realised that they can’t re-cycle it…. You know what they say about the Irish :peek:

we recycle it in various ways, but we use so much and so little ways to reuse its difficult to get rid of even half of it.
we use it for parceling signs for deliveries, separating signs in transit to prevent scratches, making templates for flat cut and built-up letters etc etc shredding it would also be a good addition.
