• Back-lit profiles

    Hi guys,

I need some tips for profiling back-lit media.
So far I am doing the profiles with overprint 2 in order to make the prints look good also when the back light is turned off.
Very hard to make the prints look good with back light and without.
Another way would be to make the whole profile on top of a back-lit cassette, but that would make the prints look good only when the light is on.

    Looking forward seeing Your suggestions.

backlit is hard to profile as you need a device that can operatate in transmissive mode rather than the standard reflective.

i have a coule of dtp41’s that have the option of transmissive or reflective.

but an i1 would only be reflective and so would not take into account the light coming through the media.

Great! Just bought myself a slim backlit cassette for profiling purposes and decoration.
So I guess the second purpose still works.
Anyway, I will make some measurements with the iO and see what happens.

Try creating the profile as you would do normally. Then when you are printing the job run it with double ink. This adds the density you would need with the light on. We tried this on a Mimaki Jv5 with Onyx7 rip and it works fine. What machine/rip are you using.
