Hi People havnt been on for a while as the company i worked for specialize in aircraft liverys and markings and not commercial signage. But i did this job for a freind late last year so i thought i would post

I traced and hand painted the fascia sign with enamel sign making paints which i really enjoyed because the last time i handpainted something was 11 years ago when i worked for a traditional signmakers before moving on to aviation graphics.

The swing sign and window graphics and a board are all cut vinyl and i painted the gold bits in the window frames with the left over enamel paint to add to the effect.

Doing the job made me realise how much i miss doing commercial jobs like this and i am thinking of going self employed and doing sign work in my spare time, while keeping my full time job for security

    Any comments appreciated

    thanks

Nice stuff, lovely balance and perfect for that type of shop. There is something nice about doing brushwork when you don’t have to.

I only do signs part time now, and it makes it enjoyable as oppose to a job, I actually look forward to writing a shop or a van, where I was starting to hate doing it 7 days a week.

Yeah my freind wrote that harry she also painted the black board paint on the A board and the edges bled i wasnt happy! Yes i really enjoyed myself Bob although it took me the best part of a weekend but when i looked at the finished job i was proud as punch! It certainly beats making Airbus kits and Aircraft liverys!

very nice, clean and suits the premises.
my only criticism would be the swing sign i think should have been more ornate perhaps oval.

but then again i can only drag a mouse about

Looks great Steve, well balanced and really in keeping with the building.

You any good with watercolours as that frontage is begging to be painted.

I agree with Bob it’s probably more enjoyable doing this as a hobby/favour when you
haven’t got the pressures that come with earning a living from it.

Go get some paint and brushes from them and paint them a picture of their shopfront they’ll love it.

yes i agree neil it was quite stressful doing it just for a freind i had a problem with the mettalic gold enamel paint i bought from wrights of lymm i had to build up the letters gradually as it wasnt covering the cream fascia properly. The black shade was fine though. Luckily the owner had scaffolding up so i just climbed out of the window onto the platform as i have no ladders to use. It took me most of the weekend to complete but got there in the end.

Yeah id love to paint it for them but im not great with watercolours.

It looks great as it i but I can’t help feel the fascia could benefit from a border or flourish
