Lovely job Kevin is it like working with normal wrap vinyl.
What printer did you print it on.

That was printed on our Roland pro 3. Not as pliable as we like, I’d say the stretch is very limited but the caddy is very bulbous at the back end, I think it would be much easier on something flatter like a trafic or a transit custom

I contemplated ordering some to do the wrap on sprinter. Glad I decided to use the SLX we had in stock.

    Look’s good though Kevin

I don’t think it will be a huge seller at the price to be honest, tempted to do our transporter in it though

For some reason I couldn’t get my head into wrapping the doors. I don’t know why I didn’t just do like we always do in the first place!

Got the point where I ripped the f’ing thing off the door, as my patience ran out, but the SLX took all the abuse I could throw at it.

It’s on, a few imperfections, but interested to see how well it stays on considering

Looks good mate, that initial lack of tack on that stuff unnerves me

Yes I left a huge bridging gap, larger than the usual squeegee’s width, and it kept springing out the recess. Not enough grab to hold it in.

    quote David Hammond:

We just did the back of a custom using this SLX. Left a squeegee length, heated well away from the recess in it went in a charm. Didn’t pop out. Next day it felt welded on. Actually stay will us for another 2 days and all look good when leaving. Even tried having a wee peek at a triangle that wasn’t in main part of wrap and couldn’t see it come off easy without some heat. Would of been a right tug.

I did find little bubbles popping up on the flat part of the recess panel once it was in. Annoying but a bit of rubbing and all good. Again next few days no sign of them.

I think because I was getting annoyed, there was some air trapped in places ,when post heating they’ve blistered, lesson learnt… squeegee it hard all over.

It’s our own van, thought if we got it done today it can stay in the unit over the weekend to adhere fully.

You mentioned David about leaving a huge gap, wider than the squeeze and it popping out. What I do is tention the material over the entire panel but don’t squeeze the centre at all. Then heat the panel and press it into the recess then apply the material to the panel. That way for example if the recess is 1cm deep and the panel is 100cm wide you’ve only stretched the 100cm by an extra 2cm (2%). If you only leave the width of a squeeze (I know you left a bit more) you have to stretch the 10cm of material 10% instead of 2%. This reduces the tension on the corner massively allowing the material to stay put with ease. Hope that made sense lol.

That’s what I tried first, pulling it taught like a bed sheet over the entire door, then work the recesses, squeegee down the flat parts.

Trouble was I kept developing saggy bits in the middle of the panel, with nowhere for it to go as the recesses were down.

Not really done much full colour wrapping, so a bit of a learning curve.
