  • Are there Any helpful XP/ Illustrator geeks out there?

    Greetings.
My computer has a really annoying habit of forgetting all kinds of settings every time I switch it off.
All the useful things I have set in Illustrator are lost, and the pallets are not where I carefully placed them. (Illustrator 10, windows xp.) I have to go through the preferences and do it all again. even the"recent files" in Ill – ustrator are forgotten
In my experience there is always a really simple fix, Trouble is I have no idea where to start looking.
Is there anyone at all out there can help?

    Simon,

I’ve not got Illustrator on this laptop, so I can’t check the exact steps, and mine is Mac anyway, but on one of the drop down menus towards the right hand side you will find a "workspace" item. That gives you the option to save your workspace so that you can get it back at any time. If you name it "default" it will come up automatically every time you start up the programme.

That feature first came with CS2, so wouldn’t be an option with Illustrator 10.

    Did it? 😳

I thought it came in with Illustrator 10. I stand corrected. 😀
