Nick, the reason the sprinter gives problems is that the paint is water based, and this reduces the effective adhesion of the vinyl, its ok on the flat surface but when the vinyl is stretched into the recesses, the adhesion is is reduced even further.
The solution is to use a good quality material and form the vinyl into the recess without over stretching.
there is a technique for doing this. You can also buy a paint primer from grafityp that micro etches the surface to aid adhesion.
Heat when finished to ensure that the vinyl looses all its memory.

Some add agencies now just have the recesses cut out and the piece of vinyl, dropped into the base of the recess, if you understand what I am saying…It may not be a "full wrap" but doesn’t look to bad, and there wont be any come backs

thanks for the reply peter, i get about 1 wrap job every 2 years and have had some problems around 5 yrs ago with a sprinter van when working for another company, the infrequency of the wrap style jobs doesnt make it viable for me to go on a course. so i’m still looking for anyone near me with more experience who can help with this job either thro advice or even doing the job with me

is that the same for vitos? i have put graphics on a lot of them over the past 6 years and most seem to have rust issues

Always wondered why they had this problem, could it be due to being a water based paint?

    Nah,

It’s because they aren’t really Mercedes vans at all. Just something cheap spat out of a factory somewhere in Spain with a three pointed badge stuck on afterwards. 😀
