    Hi all.
A simple job for most but want to post this for my new helper. Completely new to the business but in a very short space of time has really come on well. This job he sold, advised, designed, cut and applied apart from the rear door handle. Nothing fancy in design or wrap or anything else, but can we still remember how please and proud we were of our first job done on our own?

    Hope so.
Well done Leigh by the way!

    Peter

Top job for a first job. Well done. 😉
How long did it take him Peter?

Most of a day!! But he persevered and did it. I suppose it was about a couple of hours or so to cut, app and apply but I don’t mind. He did it on an evening.

    Of course we can.

And I still get the same feeling today when we do a nice van. My own feeling is that there is a lot of job satisfaction to be had in our trade.

Better yet is an employee turning good. When the training pays off and they start to be more useful and make the boss’s life a bit easier.

Credit to the both of you. 😀

Like everyone else has said Peter, pretty good for a first job. I would have made it all a little smaller myself as I think it is just a little bit to big but thats just my opinion and a very small point as well.
Lets hope you can hang on to him Peter when he reaches the stage that he is better than you.

One comment Peter/Leigh,is it not easier to apply the top layer of
vinyl in-house before fitting?Just my preference especially onto
vehicles /curves etc.where one layer might not follow another
spot on.As was said nothing like standing back and admiring
your first ever job. 😀 😀

    I don’t think so Fred.

That way you run the risk of getting a line of air where it goes from one layer to two.

Our preference is always to build it up on the van, or sign.

Helps when you have a nice glass topped lightbox to line up with,
always found it not a problem. 🙂

Like John I always build up layers of vinyl as I apply it either on the vehicle or sign board. Don’t have a problem lining it up on the bench at all but there is always a risk of getting air bubbles when applying two or more layers of vinyl at a time.

Yes indeed. We find applying on the van easier for us. But doesn’t mean it is the only way. Same as wet and dry app, whatever works best for the individual/

Peter I hope you have told Leigh the praise he has had 🙄 and we usually build layers before applying 75% of the time anyway.
