  • Applying microdot vinyl to a curved rear window

Posted by James Boden on June 28, 2016 at 8:45 am

    Hi there,

I have a job coming up to fit a print on the microdot media to the rear window of a corsa van. My worry is that the curvature of the window is quite extreme and I’t’s going to end up in a bit of a mess.

Are there any tricks to use when applying to a curved window or do I need to switch up to a special media?

    Thanks

If by Microdot you’re referring the something like Contravision it conforms quite well to the curves, although doesn’t stretch like vinyl. I tend to apply from the center out to each side in turn.

Pic below of contra vision we installed to a KIA, probably not as curved as the Corsa, but should be doable I would think.

Thanks for the reply David, and nice work btw.

Yes it is the contravision I’m talking about. Would you recommend applying it dry or wet taking into account the extreme curves on the corsa?

    We’ve always applied it dry.

It’s full of holes, so there’s minimal adhesive to start with, and it’s unlikely you’ll get bubbles in it :lol1: :lol1:
