  • Application Tape Run Off

Posted by Christian Davies on October 16, 2018 at 8:53 pm

    Evening all,

Any hints or tips to successfully lay down application tape on large wall graphics to help prevent run off?

Would love to see some pictures of how some of you have set your workbenches up for applying application tape successfully.

    Thank you for your help.

I use a tape roller and it’s very good at lining up the tape before applying. I use to do it freehand but it did run off too much but the roller is great. I also have a laminator which can be used for app tape but Iv never had to tape up 4ft yet. The roller was a great investment

Thank you for your reply Chris. Are you successful in laying down 1220 wide application tape using this bench roller? Can you do it by yourself? What is your technique?

I tend to tape 1220 using 2 strips of 610 and it works fine, just pull it out past the graphic and tack it to the table, the tension of the roll will help to hold it up off the graphic and A little tape will secure it to the table.

We did not know that you could tape up large 1220mm wise graphics with two strips of 610mm – we have been attempting to use 1220 which can be difficult when you are by yourself. Do you overlap the tape? Does this cause any problems? Would love to see a picture of the next one that you do. Do you use paper tape or clear tape? Thanks again Chris.
