Ive got 2 vespas to wrap, new ground for me, never done any 2 wheeled
vehicles. The vespas are black and the customer wants them wrapped in yellow vinyl with the graphics in black put on top.

A couple of problems come to mind. The yellow cast vinyl is gonna “grin” the black of the bike through and make the yellow seem a bit “dull” especially if the vinyl gets a bit thin where heated and stretched around tight curves.

Also the amount of trim thats got to be taken off?

    Anyone done a vespa before?

Any tips and tricks you think I should be armed with please let me know

    Thanks all

    Hi,
I would be interested in how you get on “wrapping” a vespa, I put a 12″ round graphic on the front of one the other day and had a complete nightmare at the point where the front horncasting meets the front legshields ( original target design was bigger and covered the top right corner of horncasting where it meets the front legshields) I dont envy you at all. I was using Oracle 751 printed on my gerber.
Ended up shrinking the size a bit so that the graphic didnt cover the top right corner but just lapped over the horncasting and all went well. Other probs i have encountered is round decals on the side panels, these can be a headache too.
Mind you the model i was fitting the graphics to was an older PX model the newer models are probably a better shape to work with. Good luck with it though and please post a picture when youve done it.

While we are on the subject of wrapping can someone have a look at the above pictures and tell me if they think it would be possible to wrap one of the side panels shown above, if so what can i run through the gerber?

i did a vespa side panel the other day used grafi wrap .

sorry no picky but needed all of the 100 mm overlap to get hold of something to pull on and another person to hold the panel down and wave the heat about.

the easy bit was a oasis cd cover on the boot lid.

Why do Mods like to put targets all over themselves?

    Never understood that. 😮

Why do people automatically assume you are a mod if you ride a scooter? The graphic above was taken from an old SKA album front cover and the writing around it is a name of one of the tracks on that album. The guy who owns the scooter is defiantly not a mod.
Hey Mr Sticker, I take it you are saying that if i ran some “wrap” through my gerber that it would not be wide enough as you needed the full width to have something to hold on to? If you are pulling the vinyl to that extent how on earth do you stop the printed image distorting?

its got to distort but because its not a flat surface your eye does not see it as distorted – too much if you see what i mean

Hi, yes i understand, now… what, if any wrapping material will go through my gerber, I have a spare vespa side panel that Richard gave me and would like to try to wrap it.

i would simulate the job by using your cast vinyl that you know you can print on and laminate a unprinted piece with cast clear and fit it.

my imagination is starting to run riot now any body used a vacuum forming tech for wrapping smaller objects
