  • Anyone Working Holiday Monday?

Posted by Robert Lambie on April 16, 2006 at 3:25 pm

Well im sick of the site of eggs today :lol1: suffering a bit of a hangover from friday and saturday’s drink sessions and now stairing into a glass of white wine thinking "should i?" :vomit:
I am off tommorrow, but plan doing allot of catch up from the past week on the boards. anyone planning going into work?
i had thought about going in and doing work in our reception area which is long overdue being completed but even if i do, the local lumber yard will be on holiday 😕

anyone going in or just chilling out? 😀

yeh, i know exactly what you mean. our reception area is well overdue, its been stuck half way to a major change for months now. so now would be perfect… but shouldhave thought about that at the start of the week to get the stuff in i need. yeh B&Q will do the odds and ends but needs lots of batons, jiprock sheeting etc and i just grudge paying what i can get half the price elsewhere.
ive swore to myself im gonna take things easier this weather anyway.. so maybe another lazy day… having a few drinks isnt so bad, but some how i feel i should be doing something 😕 :lol1: :lol1:

John is working today so that we can hopefully take tomorrow off, planning on going to the pictures. It’s our last day before Ailsa goes back to school and I return to work so hopefully that will work out.

My mom is making a turkey with stuffing, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding (is that how you spell it?) and some veggies.
    Now to cure this hangover!
I might work tomorrow, not sure yet. We’ll see how much I get done around the house today, the list is growing longer. My Aunt, Uncle and his brother and wife are coming to stay with me for 2 weeks on Thursday. They have not been to the states since ’86. It will be nice to have them here.

Not going in work tomorrow but will be glad to get in on Tuesday for a rest 🙁

Dug out a raised bed and moved my undercover bbq area to fit in a new greenhouse (that was supposed to be delivered before weekend 👿 )

Fitted new bbq area, lined it with split bamboo.

Then painted all the fencing with green wash, after carrying out repairs (around 30 5′ x 6’panels).

Laid base ready to take the greenhouse and then re-spread the loose stone around it and put log edging around the altered raised bed.

Seived all the soil from the removed raised bed so can use it in the greenhouse.

Intalled the nessessary piping for the irrigation of the ruddy greenhouse.

Built a new gate for the side entrance so it hides the wheely bin 😥

In between all this, did the shopping and visiting relatives.

Tomorrow, going out to a trade wharehouse and getting a patio awning so when I get back, that’s another job 🙁

If it’s raining tomorrow then i’ve got at least 6 jobs inside, starting with replacing lighting, laying wood flooring, re-tiling bathroom…. God, I’m getting depressed just thinking about it.

    Hope you all have had a good rest 😥 😥 😥 😥

We worked today (well 2 of us), managed to get 110 lamp post banners up in just under 6 hours, that’s a record for us, we normally manage about 14 an hour, but with no traffic around was excellent.

In again tomorrow to finish the last 15 off, would have got those up tonight, but the boy racers were already running their circuit round the ring road, and it’s no fun being 30′ up in the air with them buzzing round below!

chris, are you talking banners with the tensioners at the bottom mate?
im assuming the brackets are already up and these are being replaced?
also, geuss your using a truck back cherrypicker?

Rob, we use the Signfix (now Signpost Solutions) banner arms, where the sockets are permanently on the lamp posts (the local Council has 300 designated lamp posts with fittings on).

We have our own van mount cherry picker, so I stay in the back, the driver poles up the banner whilst I’m in the air, fit and onto the next (they are all one after the other).

When it comes to removal, we can pull up at the lamp post, legs down, in the air, drop the banner and be back down in less than 2 minutes, got it down to a fine art now as we do so many.

I’m off tommorrow- I was off Friday as well and I have really enjoyed my extended weekend. My Daughter Sally is 16 tommorrow so we are planning to take her out to lunch.

Like Dave I have a few garden projects on going. I have built some decking which is almost complete now. However. getting back to the work theme, I gave my van a really good clean up today. A good wash and polish on the outside, and a good clean up and hoovering on the inside..I love my van 🙄

Off tomorrow apart from packing a few mail order bits, spent some of today catching up on odds and ends.

As for DIY bits on the go 😮 still have a few bits to do, been refurbishing house (whilst living in it ) over past three years, the only original bits are the outer walls, roof and trusses, first floor joists….erm thats it. EVERYTHING else has been replaced or removed(took down six walls, replaced three of them, albeit in different places). And 90% on my tod!!! Going for a lay down now 😀

    Bah!! Humbug!!

I’m in today & every public holiday (except xmas & N/Y) ‘cos I just get a set amount of ‘days’ and it’s up to me to take then as I see fit.

Ah, well. Easy day though – another van for the same flooring firm, third one now so just cut ‘n’ stick.

(Shouldn’t have stayed up watching Red Dwarf last night……YAAAAAAWN!.)
