Anyone know of a UK supplier for metalflake vinyl and an approximate cost. Does it have the same lifespan as "regular" calendared vinyl?

    Hi John.

If you’re looking for standard “metallic” film in colours like gold and silver, they are available from a variety of manufacturers in cast and calendared films. Beyond silver and gold, some manufacturers have a wider variety of colours, but they are difficult for distributors to inventory because demand is generally spotty.

You’re right to ask about shorther life spans. Even 3M’s cast metallics are only rated for 3-5 years outdorrs, depending on the application…see http://gspinc.com/support/fastfacts/ShowFF.asp?ff=5574

If you’re looking for something a little more dramatic, check out Gerber Stardust http://gspinc.com/products/materials/GerberStardust.html

Metamark in the UK used to have some interesting speciality films.

Otherwise Arlons Calon 2 cast vinyls are available in a good range of metallic colours. I don’t know who sells it in the UK, its a topend cast film though.

Hexis do a few colours, they do have a good speciality range and I HIGHLY recommend them. ๐Ÿ˜€

The best range in speciality vinyls would have to be “Coburn” they now have a UK rep.. I have the phone number at work but not in till Tuesday, as itโ€™s a holiday here in Scotland ๐Ÿ˜‰
Coburn does everything from 30 types of prismatic mirrored foil, to photo luminescent ultra sparkle, to fluorescent pink, green and you name it mirror films. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Not and arm and a leg either ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi john,

As Rob said, Coburn do a crackin range of sparkly, multi lens etc. BUT … as far as i know, they still only sell it in 10m lumps !

Try Doro Tape in Market Harborough, they do most of them & in small quantities too ! If you need their No, can post from work.

    Rob,
For us, as a small signmaker, it does depend on quantities a lot with this type of material. I think Doro are about the same price as coburn but for us it is just too expensive to order 10 mtrs in 5 different colours to stick on the shelf waiting for a punter ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

i only found out at the sign show, got talking to their rep (Paul) because he hadn’t been to see us for some time ! Almost made the show worth it !

    Taking the missus shopping

    Enjoy your break ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
