A good estimating tool but often 5 or 10 mm too big or small is enough to completely screw up an entire job in this business never mind being out by 20 or 50mm as ‘that shadow looked like an edge". It’s entirely reliant on you moving the pointer to exactly the right point / pixel.

For large projects that you want to just rough out a quote it’s pretty nifty – but I go into each job that I want to get in the mindset that all the legwork is done and I don’t need to come back to make it…just crack on…I get most jobs I quote for so it’s not a lost time issue.

Don’t know if it’s smart enough to compensate for parallax errors and perspectives…is it just solving a problem that never existed?

For the time spent faffing around on screen you could probably get out with a tape / laser and just do it right and not require a second site visit to really measure it.

I had an app on an iphone that used a known size (eg white A3 sheet) that when placed in the image would work out the sizes of other objects in relation to it when you asked for point to point dimensions / object sizes…again was just as fast to measure the damn thing than try to put a panel into shot and guesstimate the sizes.
