  • anyone got hayfever?

well its that time of the year again… Hayfever!
i am not sure if anyone else suffers from it but this year it has had a particularly bad effect on me… ive had it for years, some worse than others, but this past week or so has crippled me to the point i have cancelled a meeting i had at the end of last week and two for this week.
today was my worst, i actually never made it into work today… was in my bed till around 3pm, couldn’t even open my eyes due to migrane, sore ears, sore head, even my teeth hurt! im coughing and wheezing as i type this… not good!
    Anyone else out there suffering?

today ive taken Clarityn tablets, Otrivine nasal spray, Hayfever eye drops and Migraleve tablets… i feel like a bloody junkie 😕

ive heard that the Doctor can give an injection… anyone tried this, and if so does it work well?

ive also been told some honey taken each day helps reduce the symptoms. 😀

anyway, here hoping this gets better or ill be off work tomorrow again… 🙁

whats one of those (enjection…) Rob 🙄 not a sufferer my self but do know people who are, must be miserable, especially as all the growing seasons are changing with the climate change etc.
apparently the honey thing works, but it has to be produced near to you so the pollen that the bees collect, is the pollen that affects you.

p.s. how do you throw a sickie when you work for your self (?)

Mine will kick in next month when the ragweed comes into season. Then I live on Sudafed during the day (puppy uppers) and Benedryl at night (doggie downers) and have red itchy eyes and a matching red drippy nose.
I’ve noticed some years are worse than others.
This year has been bad for Poison Ivy.
Hopefully it won’t be too bad for hayfever!
    Love….Jill

yep get it really bad for about 3-4weeks each year, just finishing for this year now, although, this year has not been too bad, with all this liquid sunshine!
there are 2 different injections i know of, cortisone and a new one
but i have for having no pets in the house, as well as honey on toast each morning has helped, wear glasses as much as possible and take the tablets before the symptoms start
but all the best with it

I never used to be affected by it at all until about 10 years ago when I begun to experience itchy eyes. Now it’s a regular thing each summer when my eyes are constantly itchy. Clarityn re-solves it though and I don’t get any other symptoms.

Alison used to suffer really bad years ago – she received a series of injections to de-sensitise her and is no where near as bad now as she used to be. She still suffers though with sneezing.

See Rob! Told you local honey! :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: I think you thought I was kidding about that.

I’ve had hayfever since early childhood but I’ve been fine this year. I think it’s due to the fact that I take antihistamines all year round, never missing a day. I’m on my 4th year of that. I take it mainly because I have asthma triggered by allergies. So taking a loratadine every single day I’m sure has built up a partial immunity to my hayfever.

Start taking your clarytin weeks before you normally start to get symptoms. And get LOCALLY PRODUCED honey 😀

I started yesterday with it, and am sitting here now with watering eyes, sore throat, cough, and headache. Feeling quite miserable and will be going home soon to get the hayfever tablets out!

De-sensitising injections seem to work for some, and not for others. It takes a while to get through them because it’s several over a period of time (can’t remember how many, or how long). They also aren’t used as much now, as far as I know.

Wish there was a cure though 😥

Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Remember not to drink Grapefruit juice or Pomegranate juice if you are on anti-histamines ~ can cause serious side effects. ( Actually for that matter don’t drink Pomegranate juice if you are on Statins either ! )

Amazing how many people are in the dark about the drinks and anti-histamines though. Tons of information about it on the internet if you are interested in reading more.

Just thought I’d drop in a little warning as it is so relevant to this thread.

    Saph 🙂

Suffered hay fever from a young age and had injections everyweek when I was a kid – they never worked. Gave up the injections in my late teens and for the last 20 odd years just get by with a Beconase nasal spray, which helps little.

I never suffer from hay fever when I’m on holiday abroad so its time to up stix and emigrate . 😉 I wish.

Well, it seems like its not hayfever, but a full-blown cold that I have. Hayfever tablets did nothing, and 3 days later I am feeling as miserable as sin! Dragged myself out of bed this morning, now sat here shivering, with a roll of loo paper for my nose. Hopefully the Ibuprofen will kick in soon. 😥

Lorraine go to Tesco ………… buy a maple and pecan pastry ……… come back………. put the kettle on …………. then sit with a hot cuppa and a treat. This will not cure your cold but I bet it would taste good and make you feel better for a few minutes anyway!!!! 😉
