  • Anybody use theOPOS system?

Posted by Alastair K on June 18, 2003 at 10:54 am

I’m looking at a new cutter, currently use a Summa T610 which is excellent, but we need extra capacity.

I’ve been looking at cutters with OPOS systems but I’ve never used one. Anyone out there with good/bad experiences?

I’d be using it for stickers/garment transfers in conjunction with a colour laser.

    That sounds great Jon!

If you at ND have now got an alliance with Summa and you all being Gerber owned? or Gerber distributors (when I say Gerber owned I wondered if it was like Spandex here in Europe). Will there be an easy way to output Edge work thru the Summa using OPos.

I ask as I have a T series plotter with OPOS but as Summas reg mark set up is different to Omegas, will there be an easy work around in the future.

Summa plotters are not even in Omegas plotter set up list or weren’t.

I use my old Sprint to cut my Edge work but if there was an eรกsy way to program in reg marks i.e in plot menu name cutting device or optical blah blah, and it prints the marks accordingly???

That does sound good Jon, but I just can’t justify ยฃ3k for what will be a backup machine – especially as all Roland CX24 s now come with OPOS as standard, at ยฃ1300!

    Alistair,

I don’t think you can compare a Summa SignPro T series plotter to a Roland. Maybe the Summa D series but not the T series.

They are very well built true tangential cutting, the head lifts 2 motors, not emulating as say the Graphtec, and Roalnd may have something like OPOS but that is a Summa product. Very good on long material runs, very reliable etc etc.

I would buy another tomorrow over all the competition, for what it is its well priced, we did a deal where we got OPOS and the floor stand in the price, also have a basket under for collecting media.

Brian and I were getting off topic, no doubt about that…but I still find this turn of events odd. Anyway, no harm done.
