I have a Rep coming to see me from CardSave and just thought I would find out if anybody here use them and have an opinion on them?

    cheers

They are a provider of Streamline or something like that, It’s my first time looking in to card payments so don’t know much of anything 😕 :lol1:

Google them Warren, see if you can get any reviews, nearly fell into a trap a while back with a card co, searched them & ran a mile!

Edoted to add: Funnily enough, just had a Barclaycard rep in, we are currently using Streamline through the FSB at the pub.
Barclaycard have a deal until 21st April, no fees or line rental for 1st 3 months, then low rates (better than what we get now) thereafter. May be worth looking at Warren.

    Hi Warren

Have you spoken with your bank manager? I bank with HSBC and they handle my card payments. Works fine and keeps it all in one place.

I don’t have a lot of experience with this sort of thing but thought streamline was one of the big banks, surely anyone who is a provider but not from the bank must be adding their bit to what you pay. I know a few people who use the system Lorraine mentioned through the FSB and are very happy with it so if your a member might be worth investigating.

Martin, you are correct in that Streamline is from Natwest, as Barclaycard is from Barclays.
although I have been happy with Streamline, it is clear that despite supposed ‘preferential rates’ via FSB, other companies can offer better rates. Like a lot of things, Barclaycard are willing to match or maybe better, so it seems all costs are negotiable.

I was with Streamline for many years but recently switched to Barclaycard because they were offering a better deal.

Warren – pm me if interested and I can get someone from barclaycard to give you a call?

Thanks all, the details and rates etc seem good and am reviewing before signing, also as I have just moved my personal and business banking over to Barclays I am already waiting for a call back from them to discuss (thanks anyway Phill)

    Cheers

Cardsave are part of streamline and do have much better rates than most of the banks. They also offer advantages of managing your account online and producing payment pages that you can send to your customers to pay by linking to a payment portal (a bit like google checkout). Incidently they are one of the biggest card servicing companies in the UK and europe but up until recently have not gone direct to merchants butu through banks etc (hence the nat west/streamline tie in). We calculated we could save around £200 per year on card costs which isnt great but worth having.

We are still thinking about switching as they can only offer us a virtual terminal (computer/iphone) instead of the normal card machine due to the amount of "customer not present" transactions we have. We are reluctant to give up our card machine but would really like online management as the statements from barclaycard are very unhelpful when trying to allocate payments.

Good to hear Colin, I’m looking at going for the virtual terminal as it can be used if the customer is present or not and also for online ordering.

I’ll wait and see what Barclay Card offers and decide.

    cheers
