    Hi there

I have a van to do friday for an existing customer. He wants the main panels on sides and back flood coated in charcoal vinyl. I have ordered the correct size vinyl to flood with which is slightly wider than my normal 610. I do lots of flood coating, but usually on bench. or smaller areas. Any tips for working it onto the panels of this van, i was going to tape the vinyl in place, then work from right to left, squeegeeing the main area, and then go back around afterwards to work into the recess, then cut on the van

    cheers

    matt

I find it easier putting a horizontal hinge in place say 10-20% from the top then applying and working my way down. The weight of the sheet usually helps me out. Also when you fold the backing sheet over, if you press the vinyl against the car on top of the backing sheet it usually keeps the vinyl off the vehicle until you squeegee it down.

i would usually use a horizontal hinge every time, but the length of vinyl is about 2m approx. so this is a bit long for horizontal??????

Sorry didn’t look at the van first. Use a verticle hinge in the middle.

Get a piece of angle aluminum about 70cm long. When you peel back the vinyl press the aluminum to the edge of the vinyl. This will let you stabilise it. You will then have 1 metre of vinyl to hold with one hand and you can squeegee with the other. You will be able to work alone then.
