Any one else got a problem with BT broadband?
Posted by Texcat on March 19, 2003 at 10:12 amHave you noticed that since most people have broadband now the members online figure is always high. Thats good news for Robert`s site as we all seem to have it as our homepage and always logged on.
Well Done Rob
However MY BT broadband is crap. It goes off after 2-3 mins or does not work at all. They say that their modem does not work with anything other than an Intel modem inside our machines. Not everyone has an Intel modem.
Any one else got a problem with BT broadband???
Rob, put broadband on the shop shelves, i`d buy it!!!!!

Broadband! I wish I could have the option of broadband! It’s not available in my area, apparently the demand isn’t high enough. It’s crazy, my family 1/2 mile away have broadband but we’re on a different exchange. It would make my life much easier, I’m online 12 hours a day and always sending and receiving files, so it’s ssssllllooooowwww. 🙁
If you could sell it Robert I’d be first in line! -
We use a company cause Pipex, we are just trying to sort ours out at the moment. We have been told we can have it for £24 a month, plus they will give us a free modem. A lot cheaper than BT I think?
-
Let us know how you get on or post their number for me. BT have been trying to sort mine out since October, the only good thing they are good at is sending me invoices for it.
I might send them an invoice for all my time wasted chasing it up.

The best offer ive seen is through sky for bt broadband, free connection, free modem and £27 per month. You have to be a sky customer to get it, but the deal is excellent.

Hope this helps

Me too Marcella, BT told me “until we get 350 requests on your exchange we won’t be upgrading it to a digital one” guess how many they have had so far ? 12 aaaarrrgh! 😡 and if one of you smart alecs says “why not try cable” err well it stopped 35 miles away in Grantham and their are no plans to EVER bring cable to Boston and NO i can’t afford a rudy great Sat dish in me garden for satellite broadband or what the hell ever its called 🙁 🙁 😡 😉 so its no downloading movies from warez sites for me then 😥 😥

Andy their web address is http://www.pipex.com/
Or you can contact them on 0845 077 2537 local rate number.
It may be worth a quick call.

oooooooooh brian you must be smiling sweetly at the pipex chaps, I too am with pipex dial up but when I enquired recently (last week infact) about going to broadband i was told:
Set-up £60.00 +vat
Modem £109 +vat
Monthly fee £24.95 +vatmmmmhhhhhhh what perfume are you wearing 😆 😆
-
I,m on ntl world broad band, all free, connection modem etc, plus free web cam.
three speeds
£14.99 a month, 128k twice that of phone line
£24.99 a month, 600k
and finally £34.99 a month for 1meg, plus you can move up and down between them each month.
had it three months with no problems -
Brian
Its not the perfume you are wearing (re. Lorraine) its because the free bits are for home use only. For business use it is £60 set up, £24.95 pm but you can use any modem
Even with this said it is better than BT in fact anything is because it doesnt bloody work.

We have been with Pipex for over 5 years so maybe that’s why we can get a better deal?
I use Btinternet anytime at home and after the the level of service I have had with them would never use them again. I used to have BT home highway again I was none too impressed with that either. Especially when I moved house 6 months after getting it and had to pay £300 regardless of weather or not I kept using it.
Personally I steer clear of BT like they are the Plague.

I use NTL, but something that has made me worry about my future use of NTL is this un-happy piece of news….

it’s not a problem 99% of the time, but there’s still that 1% where I could be in trouble….

am i right in saying with the sky satalite broadband you can only download ten times faster and uploading is the same old slow slow slow? 🙄
-
I just noticed on my front page of AOL that they are doing free modem pack and delivery, normally £95.00 with a monthly subscription of £27.99.
Orders must be placed and fully accpeted by the 30th June 2003D/L speed is 512Kbps
U/L speed is 256Kbps -
