Anti dust and static tools. What do you use?

Ho rob, use them everytime im laying vinyl onto boards, removes all the dust etc and also as im laminating print before it goes through the rollers

in all honesty…
all I use is a spray of water and a paper towel.

do this on the bench area you are working on.
then spray and wipe the board with the same.
“if required” give the sign panel a wipe down with isopropanol.

what you tend to find is that the boards are clean, but surrounding areas or even the top you are wearing has whatever on it. you remove the vinyl and create a charge, and everything and anything around you jumps to the charged area. i.e. your sign or laminator as it unwinds.

the water on the paper towel eliminates this cheap and easily.

Water spray for me too, I also spray the water in the air over the area where I’m working to bring any dust down that’s hovering.

ok very interesting. i get the water method with laying up signs but when laminating i still feel it needs going over as its going through the laminator. Ive not done this a few times and the difference in quality is huge in my opinion

could the issue not be static build up?
try earthing the roller?

We use these as well. Used to just wipe down with meths, but the roller / pad combination is so much better.

have you ever looked into alternative cheaper options?

The last adhesive pads we bought were from SignGeer, which were larger than the original ones we had, so we cut them in half to get twice the amount. We have used end of roll app tape, but it isn’t as good. You can rinse the roller under the tap, which will bring the stick back, but probably a pain to do every time.

i wipe my panels down with a damp cloth and ISO if it has a film residue left behind from stripping the protective layer.

i have never heard of teknek before.

We use the sticky rollers but just keep off-cuts of scrap vinyls rather than the pads, after-all, they are to only clean the rollers and just gonna throw the A4 or A3 scrap vinyls in the bin or ends of print / lam vinyl….

We use a sticky roller as has been suggested, and we clean the roller with vinyls scraps too. I think we got ours form the States for about £30-40, it’s about a foot wide.

Brilliant bit of kit. I quick roll on vinyl and it’s as good as new.
