Would appreciate some pricing help here guys, the way i have priced this it’s working out at £370 ex the dreaded but somehow I think I’m way off 😕

The job is to supply & fit etch film to six 800×1500 windows, very basic & easy to weed logo on each pane and after trying out a few different vinyls I’ve settled on using oracal 8510 (fitting dry).

    Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Not sure on the Oracol etch pricing but we would be between £5-600 depending on who was for.

I always thing that the etched vinyl offers a chance to charge a bit more than standard vinyl due to the percieved value.

    Cheers

Id be in Garys ball park, thats going to be a full day on site cleaning and fitting, plus time cutting, weeding and laying up the tape. Not forgetting to add the materials and mark up. 1/3 of you price will about cover materials.

I’m guessing when you say way off you mean to cheap from what the others have posted, not done any etch work for ages so not sure about current prices.
Have they had any other quotes you could compare against?

Anyhoo, talk your price up a bit. I can supply photos of poorly installed etch done cheap with hair, paint and, could not believe it, backing paper trapped in too 😮

If I dont get a job on price, I keep an eye on it for a while….if its a poor job, Ill go back in 6 months and mention "I see you still have your temporary sign fitted, can I re-quote for a new one" :lol1: soon makes them think twice…..

I would have quoted this closer to £600 +vat

Etch doesn’t only have a perceived higher value it is in fact more expensive than regular vinyl, I multiply regular vinyls by 500% and frost at 400% and the frost is still way more expensive.

I have found the Oracal 8510 etch the nicest and easiest to fit dry, have tried the Metamark Frost and found it harder to fit and has less of an "etch" look than the silver etch from Oracal.

    My opinion anyway 😉

    cheers

Thanks guys, I kinda knew I was pricing this wrong using my normal method 😳

Have to agree with you about the 8510 Warren, thanks to Andrew Boyle I had six different etches to try out over the weekend and the 8510 was a dream to work with compared to the rest, very forgiving for the novice 😀

I’ll stick the more realistic quote in tomorrow & keep me fingers crossed.

    Thanks again!!!

This is where window tinters are different to sign guys. I am often way under sign guys quotes when comparing window and frost applications and often over priced when working out sign work.

As a comparison on this job I would have quoted £270 for the film installed without any graphics.
This is based on a general window film installation cost of £30 per square metre. Frost is our cheapest film and many would be more expensive. I know some competitors only charge £25 sq m to install frost.
I also charge a pane charge of £5 as often 20 small panes can take all day yet be a smaller sq m area than one large pane. This pane charge seems to even this out.
I would expect to install around 20 large panes in a day if they were straight forward. I average 2 to 3 an hour once all set up, so 8 panes only a mornings work.

As soon as you add the graphics then we have design / computer time, weeding, tape application and removal so could easily double this cost. It is the complexity of the logo graphic that would dictate the price here. But for a simple design with say 2 hours computer and cutting time I would add an extra
    £60 Computer / cut time
£30 For each graphic (Depending on size)
£10 extra installation time on each graphic (waiting and removal of application paper)
Overall that comes to £50 extra per window.

Total job around £570 excuding VAT and travel mileage/time to site
