I had a customer came in yesterday to have some signs fitted to the two front doors of his car. I explained that as the signs were already made up he could just wait while I fitted the lettering as this would not take long.

He seemed fine at first, but as I went about applying the lettering I could sense his growing dissatisfaction. I wondered if he maybe thought the lettering wasn’t straight because the window sloped down quite a bit and I explained to him that I was running the lettering level with the bottom of the door as this was the only way to get them to look level when you step back from the car.

Still his face was tripping him and I assured him that all was well and the signs would look fine when viewed from a distance.

Despite my assurances I could tell he was not a happy bunny 😕

When I’d finished applying the lettering to the second door, I returned to the first one and began to remove the application tape…….

Suddenly he was a different person and a big smile appeared across his face. Then he told me that he hadn’t realised that the application tape would get taken off. 🙄

He was a very happy man when he left :lol1: :lol1:

his face was in shock (he was in a hurry) "Oh no…. i need them all pointing left and i don’t have time to Waite" 😕

still holding my arms out with the arrows facing him… i spun them round!

Yes, I had a similar thing on Monday. A bloke’s van was to have a yellow logo with a black outline. I stuck all the black on first, at which point he ran to his office and came back with my drawing saying "You’ve got that wrong, the logo should be yellow". I didn’t answer, instead I stuck the yellow on and said to him "what’s that you say?". Customers are idiots, we are great.

i have to be careful you see, mine normally are spelled wrong 😉 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

    ah yes, customers.

The spelling thing really narks me, everyone thinks its the first time you’ve heard it. They laugh, I don’t. 👿

I had a customer that wanted some signs a few years ago, but thought my installation fee was too high, so he insisted that he wanted to save money and fit them himself. Saw the vehicle last month, and the application tape is STILL on the sign. It looks crap now. Probably explains why I haven’t seen him since 😮

Had another customer want a sign for his front fence at a hindu temple, but he was not sure of the size, and he didn’t have a ladder to get up and measure it.

I said I’d go and measure it for a service call, but he was not keen on spending the money. I suggested "How about I do a paper print first, and see if it fits, before cutting down the Dibond, as long as you pay me". He felt that was better value, so thats what I did.

He rang me next day, after we’d had some rain, concerned that the sign didn’t fare very well. Somewhat confused, I decided to hop in the van and see what he was on about.

The guy had put spray adhesive on the back of the paper plot, and stuck it to the fence. 😮

I just laughed. Never seen that before. :lol1: :lol1: He was so embarrased, he gave me an order for 4 dibond signs while I was there :lol1:

    "You’ve spelt that wrong"!!!!
    We’ve all had that one.

This year i was fitting a load of signs in a hairdressers, i got chatting with all the girls in there and they happened to say "I bet you get people saying you’ve spelt that wrong all the time"
I explained that they were correct and that i was sick of hearing it, it’s not original at all and that all people who come out with that one are total tw*ts or wanke*s as far as i was concerned.
Literally ten seconds later the owner walks through the door with his mate and shouts out "You’ve spelt that wrong mate".
We all piddled our pants 😀

Even the blokes wife who it turns out was one of the hairdressers!

Had a guy who came in, picture in hand, of how he wanted YAMAHA on his bike’s petrol tank. Did the job, and gave it to him. He was not a happy puppy! On his picture, the Y was at the saddle side, and the A on the handle bar side. On my job, it was the other way round on 1 side (!!) I explained to him , as you read from left to right, this will obviously always be the case. No, he told me, just MIRROR it for the other side. I decided to humour him, and did as requested. You should have seen his face as he collected, and the Y and A on both sides were facing the same way, but AHAMAY didnt make sense. Redid it again (no charge – best laugh I had in ages!)
