Hi to all in the font of knowledge….

Well I’m about to dive head first into the world of print and cut (previously I have been producing cut vinyl) with a reconditioned VersaCAMM SP-300V from a well known supplier. However before I do the deed (and having been a little worried by some of the computer compatibility readings here) I would appreciate some advice please.

I’m running Vista 64bit on an HP desktop with an AMD 8750 Triple core 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM and a 400GB hard drive. Software at present: Corel X3 and other minor programs.

The machine will be supplied with the latest/appropriate version of Versaworks.

So folks the question is…….is my comp man enough/compatible to function/run everything properly?

    Thanks

    Hi Roger

I have just bought a SP540i and I have a computer that is of similar spec to yours, I believe that for ripping files the Ram is the most important component and 4GB is more than adequate. The thing I would check is whether Vista 64 bit will be compatible. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and I have been told that it is not suitable for the older versacamm’s but the sp540i is fine with it. I have had a look on the roland site but cant find the information I looked at a couple of weeks ago, somewhere on there is a table detailing the compatibilty of different operating systems with different machines.

I would either ring roland tech or your supplier to check.

    Hope this helps

Am sure its versawoks that has computability problems and not the printer. Your pc should be fine, with win 7 64 bit it depends on the version you have, ie ultimate is ok but not home premium, so maybe the same with vista. Worst way you could upgrade to win 7, it is more stable and better than vista anyway.
i have just bought a new versacamm and am running win 7 64 ultimate, and is all running perfect.

As Paul says I think you will have a problem with home edition vista, I would defiantly recommend you upgrade to windows 7 Ultimate my machine is running great with it it is far superior to Vista
