Sad news but typical of the times we are in. In my region there have been a huge number of business failures over the last year – and I reckon there will be many more come January when many small companies face their biggest cashflow difficulties caused by the annual Christmas break.
Meanwhile (while Rome is burning) our esteemed prime minister is busy promising huge amounts of money (that Britain simply hasn’t got) to fix a so called man made climate problem that does not exist (and if it does – is certainly not man made). It makes me mad that politicians can bankrupt a country and then walk away from it all and retire on a full pension in a few months time.

This year has been hit hard on many of the recognized faces… we should do a list of 2009 and as I followed digital printers most of the year, here is a few:-
+ Andersons (Litho Supplies) in Administration
+ Raccoon Digital (didn’t know they went, website still up??)
+ Some Fastway Couriers Depots e.g. Scotland
+ Spuhl becomes WP Digital.
+ Gandi Innovations bought out by AGFA
+ Europoint finally is Robert Horne
+ AIT still trades (but we now have GPT as well)
+ B&P goes and the becomes B&P!
+ PrintMax swallows PlanetMedia
+ PlanetDigital seems to have disappeared?
+ Canon is trying to buy Oce
+ HP takes over Colourspan and NUR(might be last year)
+ Raster Printers bought out by EFI
+ The Sign Show didn’t open it’s doors. Many sign makers and large sign companies also ceased to trade!
The thing that gripes me about the changing names and the companies finding hardship, service contract for your very expensive equipment, how will it be honoured? and do you have confidense in them for after-sales support?

+ Three French hens,
+ Two turtle doves,
+ And a partridge in a pear tree.:lol1: just joking mate…. i know what you mean regarding spending big money on equipment and the company disappearing… we had similar happen to us recently but i was lucky in the end… many aren’t…

Many customers I’ve dealt with who have always had money to play with are now cash strapped or gone. One of the problems now are many firms are selling their services at cost just to stay afloat which puts them in an even worse position.
