blimey, you wouldn’t wanna slip down a flight would you!
looks like a marble quarry, I used to have to repair equipment at a marble works, they had a saw with a 10ft diameter blade and slabs of marble big enough to flatten a transit van!
-
Get all the way to the top and think ‘Blight! I forgot me pencil’
-
on second thoughts, i think my initial thought about it being photoshopped is possibly right, look at the crane cable, it’s disjointed twice!
-
it does look pretty convincing and first and if photoshoped the shadows cast from the platforms and ladders are great.
i think you are correct though Hugh. Photshop is most likely.
like you say, the cable is disjointed in places. the "top" ladder also doesn’t lean on anythng other than what looks like a black line. this could well be a steel bar, but even if this ws the case, its position wouldnt allow the climber to get on or off the ladder without it moving.
good spoof picture though.
logic would tell me to put a cage cradle on that big crane cable hook and lower and raise the men as and when needed. far quicker and more staff still alive at the end of each shift. :lol1:

Thats the shadow Hugh!

If each rung of the ladder is a foot then its only 247 feet up. (19 ladders)
Thats not unusual for open cast mines in western Australia, so no motive either. -
LOL Rob!

Maybe it is being run by this outfit? 😮

I think the photo is real, The disjointed cable may be where the panorama has been joined. I’ll not complain about climbing my ladder ever again!
-
Hugh there was a mummy on that roof, did you see it?
Real or fake I would never want to have to use all those steps and ladders. It was like when I was in art school with a portfolio long enough to drag on the ground when I walked (I’m short)
The school had an elevator but it was always too crowded so I had to walk up to the 10th floor on Fridays.

I think the photo is real too
The cables on the site are just perceptible but the shadows of the cables, which are much thicker, cast against the irregular rock face create the illusion that its disjointed
The top ladder may be resting on a stanchion at 90 degrees to the rock face similar to what holds up the intermittent landing platforms
Health and Safety improvements would a few more steps in the right direction

Definitely a fake picture. If you look at the shadows you can see some of them are diverging indicating multiple light sources. And although you can’t see the sky – if you could I’m betting you wouldn’t see any stars.
I reckon the picture was probably taken in a film studio set up at area 51 in the Nevada desert 😮

actually, the same thoughts came across my mind too. :ball:

I’m telling you Phill
The flag is definitely blowing in the wind
I’ve got Neil here and his Buddy who feel the same way -

You would need to be Armstrong after that climb too! -
I believe it’s from Barri (Rock of Ages quarry) in Vermont
apparently a lot of these quarries are only 3 or 4 feet deep and mined by ants in tiny machines but people photoshop them to appear larger
