Aluminum sign blanks
Posted by Kevin Mahoney on November 1, 2017 at 1:51 pmHi everyone.
I am looking for a supplier of contour cut aluminum sign blanks for a client who needs something a little more substantial than composite. Waiting for a cost from Ashby, wondered if anyone can recommend an alternative please.Kevin Mahoney replied 6 years, 6 months ago 4 Members · 7 Replies -

Thanks Martin, never gave them a thought as we’ve only ever used them for wrap vinyl. Will give them a buzz. The quote came through from Ashby surprisingly fast & reasonable a few minutes ago

First time Ive used WS for these aswell
I’ve always used Ashby but this was such a massive job I decided to get a another quote and WS won hands down.

Don’t discount searching for local people, our local supplier for a powder coated shield shape was £100 cheaper than ashby’s and no postage costs… Ok we had to pick up lol

Thank you both for the tips. On this occasion Ashby came in a tenner per unit cheaper than Cherwell who quoted on dibond so was a bit surprised.
Will hunt around the locals again, our nearest metalworkers generally aren’t interested or tend to load it as a one off job. I have told them if I get a decent rate I can push more their way but this always sounds like an old chestnut that we all hear on a regular basis doesn’t it? -
Interesting read this!
Kev if your ever in need of Dibond Sign blanks we can for sure assist you with these… Remember we can print and contour cut dibond incase your ever in need for something like this.

Will give you a call thanks James. This job needed something more like aluminum as they are to be sited on railings inside council playgrounds. We make dibond trays with a festool milling machine which is great but for shaped dibond blanks it’s always been Cherwell but have to admit, their costings have been on the strong side of late. A healthy profit is fine but if the client says no then so do we, it has made me start looking at cnc machines in house but if we have sensible trade suppliers, our budgets can be used elsewhere.
