    Rob
just got rid of a 10′ set & still have a 12′ set but was warned by H&S about using them without safety rail and kick boards. Joke is they was visiting the roofers on the site not me. The roofers where working on a Flat roof repairing leaks, H&S made them guard rail the entire roof & stop them using a ladder for access to the roof approx 7mtrs.

So its time to buy a tower & just use the trestles when i can get away from it. i have to admit trestles are excellent to work off with a 6mtr youngmans on.

i see your point mate…can you not just buy the rail and add to the existing ones?
without going into it… i still prefer the tressles over the scaffold, god knows many near falls and accidents i have had and heard of. also hate climbing up them and trying to pass the sign up etc… your knackered after a few hours work. :lol1:

that link do fiberglass towers also..

Yeah did think about it a long while ago even purchased the ali tube & started making the mounting brackets but think the rails make the trestles more unstable if you fall heavily against them. Know what you mean about getting the sign boxes up, did 2x 6mtr light boxes last xmas from the van roof to the trestles then up onto a Canopy about 17′ up luckily the boxes were split into 3mtr lengths but i was doing it on my own 😕 .
Would like a cherry picker but can’t warrant the expense at the moment.

This company look pretty good and are competitively priced.

I would still use trestles and staging for 99% of work, especially as towers have less width and need more moving about.
Of course there’s some jobs which certainly need a tower.

    Hi Kev,

Remember that once you buy the Tower you then need to get the PASMA certificate to build the thing.

Towers are excellent for uneven roads and alot safer but for quickness you can’t beat Trestles.

For big signs get a hand. Falling off a ladder trying to stop a 8 x 4 slipping is no fun…. so I hear 😳
