Alternative locator fixings, help?
Posted by Peter Cassidy on July 22, 2022 at 11:50 amHi all
I have a job that requires large flat plastic letters fitted to an uneven wall surface.
if i use traditional plastic male and female locator fixings it will twist the letter or look uneven.
has anyone used chemical fixings or anything else that would work for this?sorry if I’m not explaining myself clearly.

that looks promising Duncan. did you make or buy the plastic part at the bottom?

It is a standard Gemini pad.

Thanks for the picture and link, Duncan. I haven’t seen them in Plastic and haven’t heard of the company.
Just did a quick google image search and found them along with other variations. 👍

That looks great Adam!
What liquid fixing did you use? -
I can’t add much more as a way of fixing them. the rod method is the best for uneven surfaces.
I have used rods from suppliers of built-up letters which are soldered or welded rods on the rear of stainless steel letters.
Anything else that we have made in-house has been done using BIGhead fixings as shown in the attached. these vary in price greatly, from supplier to supplier.

thanks robert. because of the holes in the fixings these would allow both glue and screws into the letters and would give me a bit more peace of mind due to the weight.
