    Hiyas,

Any recently aquired, or thinking about buying an Air Con unit for the office?.

It was like 27 degrees in her yesterday so i popped along to B&Q.

There was some system there for £250.00 but it looked hellish, came as 2 pieces and needed installed on some sort of shelf system.

It looked like one of those air con units you used to get in the hotel room/apartments in Tenerfie during the 80`s.

i was basically looking for a single unit, stand-alone thingy.

Being in Scotland, the demand for air con units is tiny, so we have a limited choice.

    Anyone have any advice?.

    Cheers

    Rod

One day of sun in the last 50 years and you want AC :lol1:

don’t worry Rod from today it will be back to your normal rain that you love.

But if you want a good cheap unit just open your windows :you:

Currys do one a stand alone that you put a pipe out the window, about 200 quid. I can talk to my bro ( he’s a manager so maybee some discount ) and see if he will have it delivered for u.

or buy one online and get delivery free 🙂

Mind you I do remember the time I was shooting a corporate video for the Bank of Scotland and the temp got to 25 degrees… It was a heatwave and the staff were threatening to walk out if they didn’t get ac. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

It`s these damned woolen kilts 👿

100% wool and 27 degrees is torture.

I have to talc my tackle every morning unless i want the length of my stride governed by the elasticity of my scrotum. 🙄 😉

    Roll on the winter !!

Seriously tho, 4 PC`s and Monitors fire out a hell of a heat and yesterday was unbearable.

I`ll have a look at this one in Comet.

    Cheers guys.

I bought one last week, 9000 btu’s from Sainsbury homebase for £136 it a portable one just stick the hose out the window or you can drill a hole through the wall, works really well, well worth it, i only have one computer and cutter, but when its all on the heat is quite a lot to deal as I’ve only got a small office

    WHOOOAH!

    Where do I sign up!
We were 110 degrees the other day here in Arizona (USA). I guess that translates to 42 or so degrees Celcius.

I would love to have an 80-85 degree day… I would open the windows and enjoy the cool air!

Today we have a low of 75 and a high of 98. (24 and 37 Cel)

Our low…in the middle of the night…Is right around your high for the day.
And we are just starting Summer! We should see 117 F (47 C) before the end of summer.

I do have the ac cranked though. But it only helps when I don’t have the printer going…it produces alot of heat.

I am ready for a vacation… I think I will hop over the big lake to remember what Winter feels like! :lol1:

JadeyProductions; Technical Question — sort of

In Arizona – At what temperature does vinyl take on a liquid state? Do you then apply it or pour it on? 😉

Robert – sounds like a plan. But I think my wife would put up a fight. She loves the heat. She is a Pool-Side girl! :lol1:

Sar – to answer your question, it liquifies at about 100 F. It can then be poured over the vehicle and then cooled down with a water hose. The occupant must drive it to a car wash 10 times a day to keep the vinyl from going back to a liquid state and becoming a parking lot floor graphic!

Honestly though, when I pull a vehicle into the shop, the surface of the paint is so hot, it would blister your hand if you touched it too long. I usually wash the vehicle to cool it down, then pull it into the shop and let it cool for several hours before an install.

    Hey JD,
I’m over here in San Diego (Oceanside actually), originally from Wales though. Do you have to tell the client to just leave their car for a day or two at your shop?

p.s. sorry for hijacking your thread McRod, I’m just following Roberts example. 😀

I will usually have them wash the car, then drop it off at the shop the night before the install. So it is ready to go in the morning. Things are pretty secure here, so I don’t worry about it. But If you are in a questionable area, I would recommend not leaving a client’s car overnight. You are probably ok if you have them deliver it early in the morning, and you park it in the shade. By 9:00 am or so when it starts to get hot, you could be long on your way.

I have to say though….I enjoy installing with a warm ambient heat better than a late night winter install. The vinyl becomes almost brittle…and will not conform unless you get it hot first…

I can’t complain about the elements, they are more helpful then not.
