  • Air Compressors to minimize dust & dirt

I’ve noticed a couple of sign businesses using air compressors to keep areas dust free and wondered if this is common place in the sign market?

Have been looking around for sometime for a decent one but the only thing putting me off is the noise. Can anyone recommend a decent one?

    Thanks in advance.

We found a second hand Clark shhh air brilliant but not high volume
Else box it in and lots of sound proofing but needs air flow for cooling

    Hi James,

Don’t know if I’m too late, but do you mean an extractor (like a large vacuum?). We recently purchased a JET DC-950A Dust Collector and that is whisper quiet in comparison to the previous ear-buster we used to use!

    Hi James,

Not really. I did mean the type Chris suggested to clear areas quickly from dust and dirt before applying vinyl etc. I can see how the item you’ve listed could be useful though. Thanks for replying 😎

Always found they create as much dust as they get rid of!
Sure they’ll clear the big lumps off a bench, but also put billions of bits of dust and fluff into the air to resettle on your surfaces and substrates.
Soft brush and then a fine mist of water then wipe down…that’s my method.

Like Dave said, compressed air will stir up the fine dust and cause as many problems unless you have an extraction system near by.

Spraying the back of acrylic & leaving it wet also cuts down on static created on the front surface
