  • Advise with fixing’s for header boards?

Posted by Michael Winfield on April 10, 2011 at 7:31 pm

I’m still learning this sign game and i need a little advice with some fixings for header boards in a shop.

The customer doesn’t want to fit the vinyl direct onto the paint work, and wants to use foamex board.

what fixings can i use to hold the boards in place that cannot be seen?

Double sided tape would be your easiest option, I’ve been in the business for 10 years and still have loads to learn :lol1:

If they are not to big then a good quality general purpose tape will be OK no need to go for VHB for something like that.

VHB would be the solution if you wanted to mount onto the top dark section. if you want to mount onto the slatwall just make an oversize board and use the slats to hold it in place, slipping the top and bottom edges of the board into the slats – making a bow fronted kind of board. Is that explained well? 😕

yeah its for the top dark board its going on. i don’t think the customer wants to use tape, reason he doesn’t want to stick the graphics’s on the black header board’s that are already there is because they’ve done it before and it marked the boards once the graphics’s has been moved and then painted (not sure about the painted but)

Make a small bracket that goes over the top and fixes there. That way you wont disturb the dark panels.

Depends what the top of the display is like. If you bought a length of aluminum angle could you cut it up and using double sided tape or screws fix it into the top of the display? If the display unit drops back down again on the wall side you could get a "U" shaped bracket and simply drop it over and fix to that.
