Advise needed – Same inks but different printer
Posted by Justin Mann on July 20, 2009 at 9:17 pmI was using an Epson D120 to test the inks etc. and got excellent results using no profile straight out of the box.
Changed to an Epson 1400, same inks, same paper, same software, settings etc. and everything’s gone to pot! I’ve just had a profile written and this has made things even worse (getting this checked out)
Anyone any ideas? Other than going back to the D120!!!
Cheers,
Justin 🙂mod-edit please read board rules

What are you printing from? Although I have the profile loaded and set as a default, printing out of Corel I have to select the print mode each time (First load of program) when I print. Always defaults back to photo.

Printing through CorelDraw because it’s what i know best. Profile company gave me instructions to use Photoshop CS3 and I’m getting same results through both programs. I’ve tried everything in Corel, turning colour management off, playing with all settings etc.

This is when you actually hit the print button. You should get the printer select box pop up, where you select printers and number of copies etc. Once the correct printer is selected, click on properties and make sure its actually using the profile and not just defaulting to the standard "photo" setting.

I have colour management set to use the new profile, when I hit print I have settings saved and also make sure there’s a tick in the Apply ICC Profile box but it warns me that "Colour correction has been enabled for non-postscript output" and may cause problems.

set the printer defaults via printers & fax then properties, it will open in corel as you want it.
sorry don’t know the answer to this thread

OK, there’s an obvious difference between the 2 setups, D120 was 4 colour, 1400 is 6 colour. Prob. doesn’t explain my problems though!

where is the profile loaded in corel output or the printer driver

It can either be set in Colour Management within CDraw or in the printer settings. I thought it needed to be set in both but it looks like this may cause a conflict.

most profiles i have come across work correctly only at one resolution and paper setting, did the instructions say which.

Yes, I believe I have everything set as per their instructions.
