    Hi all

I have just been asked to quote for a 4meter round sign, to be fitted onto a corrugated factory wall.

it is going to be flood filled with digital print.

The problem i have is what would the best material be for this? i was thinking either 3mm aluminum or a 3 mill diabond/alucolour, cut to shape on a router and then bolted/screwed to the wall.

The joints would be but joints, would i need to have a strip at the back to stop warping/flexing as it is going straight onto a flat (ish) serface?

any help / advice would be great.

I have seen – but not used “H” section for joining two straight panels – disadvantage is that this may not be suitable as you you are flood coating with digital print.

Have used panel locks before and these have proved fairly good – bought these from http://www.signmakersproducts.ltd.uk/

    Hope this is of help.

    hey Mort,

why not get a strip of the material you choose to use about 6″ wide and screw it to the back of the sign boards with self tappers 3″ on each sign. Ive done this a million of times and it hasn`t failed yet

    best wishes

I think I would be inclined to go for something like the Alucolour rather than a 3mm aluminium panel, only because at that size an aluminium panel is likely to be quite heavy and awkward to manage.
As has been said its easy to lock panels together just by using strips of the substrate. I normally use three strips to lock panels together, two fitted to one half of the sign and one fitted in the middle on the other half.
Normally bond the strips on with either VHB tape or an epoxy type resin, I do this with all the boards I fit that are more than one piece.

    Paul,
your post about the 4 m round sign.
I have done many of these but not round, only square or oblong. The joining “H rail” that Chris is on about is factory fitted on the back of the aluminium so the front is perfect for flood coating. This is a perfect way to join them as the weight of the top one rests on the next one down and so on. Doesn’t need any type of panel locks.
