Advice, views on Cleaning Fluids please?

The higher % the better. The diluted stuff usually dries slower though, which gives you time to polish it off. Probably will not make a huge different in cleaning, but the higher the dilution, the more probability that it will leave contaminates on the surface.

what kind of cloth would you use to put this on if you where cleaning off a car for example with white paper or a cloth

Kevin I aways use micro fiber cloths, great and lint free, use for a vehicle and throw in the washing machine.

i use isoprop in 25ltr drums, comes with a pump valve so we just fill smaller bottles as and when needed.

i use white paper towel on a roll. lint free clothes are recommended.
don’t use coloured cloth or paper towel as sometimes the cleaning fluid activates the colour dye and can stain a white vehicle body. especially if its a respray.

Apart form what Rob mentioned above is there any other potential problems with Iso-prop?

I dont use IPA as we have been talking about. I use Avery surface cleaner for all my cleaning, after using many products I find this is the best and removes all traces of dirt and wax, IPA on its own I think does not remove things like tree sap and I fit away for where the vehicle sign can be washed first making Avery surface cleaner the one for me.

We have been using some white paper towels on the boarding etc and manmade fibre cloths on vehicle panels and glass.

I’ve moved over to the Avery Cleaner too. Excellent cleaner, Less of a workplace issue when working on site too.

Has anyone out there used white vinegar?
It is said to work very good for dissolving lots of different filth.
I haven’t tried it yet though.
I’ll give it a try and let you all know.

WD40 great for removing tar stains.

Phil, Avery Surface cleaner removes tar anyway doesn’t it?… mine does anyway…

it does but sometimes like this week I had a MINI here with 8 year old stripes that when the old vinyl was taken off it left all the adhesive – so washed the bonnet in WD40 for 20 mins then cleaned off with Surface cleaner and viola almost like new 😀

"tar and glue remover" can be bought in lots of places, particularly auto valet supply companies and is inexpensive. it will eat into and remove even the heaviest of adhesive in minutes. once clean, just wipe down with Isoprop and Bobs your aunties uncle! 😉

i haven’t tried the Avery cleaner, sounds pretty good. but been using the same chemicals for years and never had any problem’s, so never had a need to venture onto something new. ill ask for prices and compare… 😀
