  • Advice regarding durable digitally printed vinyl

    Hey Guys

I was hoping you might be able to help me out. I need to find a digitally printable vinyl that is very strong and conformable. I am trying to make some mobile phone wraps that can withstand being held and used in manor you would expect a mobile to be used.

I have attached some images of my prototype that has worn off since around September, it’s an example of what I am precisely trying to avoid. I think this is called ‘delamination’ and then after that the ink has obviously worn exposing the white base. I believe this one this is an avory vinyl but not sure which type. I know there are digitally printed phone wraps on the market so I am presuming there is a suitable vinyl out there.

Any advice or pointers greatly appreciated – cheers.

forget wrapping them, use a sublimation printable phone cover or desktop type flatbed printer.

It is more likely fitted wrong than it being the vinyl.
However, there is no point testing a vinyl to wrap a phone when you dont know if the vinyl is correct in the first place.

You can get a 3D press which basically is a vacuum that uses sublimation inks paper and specialty coated blank cases.

I used to make things for some cool brands. We used, and still do, 3M Ij40. But we do not wrap them we kept the design from the edges for the reasons you’re experiencing. We made thousands of these things and nearly had a massive deal with a mobile games company, but sadly it feel through. We still do them but just to order for corporate clients.

Hey Rick – Sounds good Ill inquire at my local printers for the 3M ij40 vinyl for printing. There are full phone wraps out there made by an established company over in the states. I am trying to inquire about which vinyl they use for their products.

Can I ask what the exact issue was with your products?
