  • advice please should I use cut vinyl or print for this logo?

What do you reckon I should do this Business Logo in for a 3000mm x1000mm sign.
For length of life I guess Cut vinyl wins,
For accuracy in the blending & fading of the colours I guess a full colour print.
Initially the business chose a print for accurate reproduction of the Logo. However when I mentioned it would probably fade more quickly than cut vinyl they are open to advice.
    What do you guys think?

The top picture is original logo and the bottom picture is after I have changed the blended spots into block colours for cut vinyl.
Do you think the extra length of life say if I use 8-10 year vinyl is worth the compromise on the Logo detail?
    cheers
    Stuart

Doesn’t really look much different. Cut is ok if its for a van or signboard but if they come back in the future for really small stuff then its going to be a pain all those tiny circles.

No for small stuff I would print, its just at the moment for a sign board. 3m x 1m.
They have accepted my quote for a full colour print and as I buy that in it would actually be easier than making it up in cut vinyl.
But I guess I make more money out of cutting and making up myself in vinyl.

My dilemma really is. Is the extra length of life of cut vinyl colour really that much longer than a print that I should advise them to go with the vinyl.

I make more money now out of the vinyl but if the print fades in a few years they may order a replacement.
They are friends who I do subcontract work for occaisionally so want to advise what is best for then rather than what I make most money out of.

quality vinyl wins hands down over print, i would do that in vinyl even though i have a printer and i don’t have a problem with it fading.
it will look better longer and you will make more dosh

    simples

    as PN would say

I would not worry about the bit of orange in the corners of the yellow group of dots,
they would not be noticed by joe soap, and then it would be simples even an a small scale. dots are not a problem to weed, down to 2mm are simple, just because they are round.

Yes Peter I had already got rid of the small orange bits on the end yellow dots just after I posted the picture.
Thanks for the replies I will advise on the cut vinyl option.

I would do a full colour print with a laminated finish.
    Lemon squeezy!

Even with a printer, I would do cut vinyl. Lasts longer, easier to weed really, no laminating and easier to reproduce in the future as far as colour matching. Oh,more margin also 😀

    Thanks again for the advice.
Despite my leanings towards the cut vinyl and me explaining it to the customer
they want their logo exactly as their designer has made it with the blends and are willing to pay to have it renewed when it fades.
Oh well, less mark up now but more down the line if they come back to me for the reprint in the future.
