Hi Everyone after opinions from people who use these machines? As I work myself and am fed up struggling have decided a lamina-tor or taper is the way forward can anyone recommend a system ideally I would like to stick to using 610mm vinyl but do sometimes use the larger stuff. Advice on prices would be a help to many Thanks everyone 😀

    I use one of these:

    http://www.mdpsupplies.co.uk/applicationtaperoller.asp

    At £40 it’s a no brainer.

I have two 8ft x 1m benches end to end with the roller in the middle (there is a flap on the roller that i trap between the benches to stop it moving). If you are limited with space you could use only one bench as the roller hooks over the end of the bench.

I lie the job on the bench and feed it under the roller and through onto the second bench. To ensure consistency I tape in lengths of under 2m – any longer and the tape can sag and drop onto the vinyl. I pull the tape out and firmly stick it to the bench, the apply the tape working towards the roller. Once i get about 30cm from the roller I can then unstick the tape from the bench and pull more of the job through. Simply repeat until the whole job is taped, then trim.

I have taped lengths of vinyl over 7m long without any creases or bubbles easily and consistently.

    Thanks,
    Owen

We use a 1550mm Easytaper for app tape, print mounting and flood coating.
    Invaluable.

Easytaper here too, wouldn’t be without it for it’s versatility though will probably add a dedicated laminater in the not too distant future

Many thanks for the replies the smaller tape dispenser looks like a possibility but have kind of set my mind on something I can use for flood coating to. The main problem is I know most of the time I will be working alone so just want things to work and minimise waste. 😀
