I’m wrapping my car again tomorrow. I was wondering what would be the best way to wrap the full length in one piece. I’ve toyed with the idea of laying the vinyl on it’s face and cutting the backing paper before it’s laid out on the car. This is with the intention of pulling down each separate panel and applying slowly. Doing it this way would avoid any initial tack and getting into problems. Does this sound right?

print it so its most manageable for you. remove as many obstacles as possible without causing damage or grief. apply it and take your time…

Why not try removing all the backing paper, laying the vinyl out flat on the floor, then carefully rolling the car onto it’s side onto the vinyl (being careful not to dent the roof) 😕

    Karl.
you need 2 people to initially position the vinyl.
it can be done single handed, by using a centre hinge, but unless you are experienced, it could come to grief.
book a wrapping course, it will save you so much time, even on just one job.

    Use a lot of magnets.

Position them horizontally along the car. Start at one end and take about 1 metre and fold it over and cut the backing paper off and apply this to the car. Fold the backing paper over and slowly remove one magnet at a time. The folded over backing paper will keep the vinyl off the car for you. Remove the next magnet and keep pulling the backing paper under the print. This is how I got shown and acts like an extra pair of hands.

Make sure you lift a magnet and sandwich the print/backing paper and the folded over backing paper against the car. This will keep the tension in the vinyl nice and taught.
