  • Advice on t-shirt heat press settings please?

    Thank you everyone.

Just a quick question. I’ve gotten hold of some t-shirt heat press vinyl/flex quite accidentally when I brought a ROLAND printer of eBay went to collect and the guy just off loaded a crate of sign vinyl must be at least 200m all in 5m rolls and some 10m rolls. LUCKY I know. My question is there are no temp or time guides is it truly a matter of trying out and wasting lots of time or is there a general rule of thumb temp. I have a horrible Chinese press I’m going to change soon so maybe that’s a big issue too??? I was guessing 250 at 15 second but flex are all different. truth is I wasn’t going to get into t-shirt side of thing but why not now 🙂
    Thanks in advance

    Something like this Elena:

Pressing Instructions: 155-180°C for 10 to 20 seconds, remove carrier warm and press for another 5-10 seconds

Those instructions are for Victory Designs flex.

    Cheers

Thank you John any ideas on pressure as it feels hard as i pull press arm down oh and it presses uneven left side first but only slightly I’m guessing this is not the norm?

We are using "sisser" vinyl. Press 25sec and 170 C. Also put a piece of baking paper over the t-shirt when pressing. Light pressure.

If using Siser textile material then I would suggest 155 as your temp and press for 15 – 20 seconds, one rule if it is a tricky application is to extend the pressing time and not raise the temp. Once you get around 170 plus you are reaching the kind of temp that can alter the structure of the textile vinyl and will cause you problems.

if you can’t see a mechanical reason to correct this then try a press pillow to equal out the pressure.
