What is the best stuff to use to get rid of the sticky mess?

I have to do this indoors, so do not want too much in the way of fumes. The Goo Gone is just taking too long!

    what surface Jeff?

glass is simply soapy water and a razor scraper,

other surfaces, well, I’ve used thinners (with caution and good venitlation!), rapid tac remover -v good but not cheap. various other tar and glue,

fumes is the biggest prob with many things i’ve tried, even outside!

hope the move and past year has gone well mate.

Don’t know if anyone is going to make an effort to locate this stuff, but I was given a bottle of adhesive remover once. All I know is, it was a VAG product and it smelt of oranges. Thing is, it seemed to just make the glue left on vehicles literally disappear as oppose to the effect of thinners or petrol etc.

As I don’t remove vinyls to any extent, I’ve never bothered too hard trying to find more. If you can find any, it is amazing.

Sounds like Rapid Remover to me.
    It works great.
It’s a bit greasy feeling so I would be careful around painted walls in an interior situation.
Works a million times better than Goo Gone.

careful where you use it, and defo no smoking, but we use petrol! works really well when followed with a plastic scraper! obviously you cant use it on some locations, but it works well!

As I said, I Will be doing this in my studio, so not really a good idea to use petrol. 😮

I put VAG adhesive remover in a web search, and got some pretty odd hits, if you do the same search, it is a genuine product, and not my slightly strange sense of humor.

I generally use petrol, it seems far cheaper and better than the so call right stuff. It was only this one product that impressed me. It smelt strongly of oranges and the adhesive did seem to actually disappear, to the extent it wasn’t even on my hands.

I use IPA for pretty much all my glue removal and substrate cleaning, only problem with glue is that it makes it really slimy and horrible. Only actual glue remover I have ever tried was the 3m stuff which was pretty good but very expensive.

I have 2 11′ x 4′ panels I have to airbrush. So I have to get all the gunk off. And as they are so big and I am in my studio in the basement, petrol is a no go!

I would soak them in White Spirit/Turps and leave them to soak for 5 minutes then scrape the resultant gloop off with a paint scraper or plastic squeegee. When the worst is off, finish with meths to completley clean the surface.

Jeff, you should have used IPA, you would never have noticed the smell because you would have been to high :lol1:

This one gets my vote… been using it for years now and tried loads.
find it the most cost effective too… you can by this in most good auto valet suppliers by the drum load. much cheaper and lasts for ages…

Dab apply with soaked cloth, or spray mist apply. leave it 5 minutes and apply again wiping off the adhesive.
if adhesive is very heavy, apply same as above. leave 5 minutes… appply again and using an old 4M gold squeegee or the like… scrape/drag the gunk off and wipe into paper towel and repeat. comes off very easily.
once glue is gone, using meths or isoprop to clean the panel down of any residue dried glue or tar and glue residue.

    Product Overview
A tar and glue remover for the removal of tar and glue from all surfaces that are not solvent sensitive.
A ready-to-use thin liquid based on a blend of solvents, Tar and Glue Remover is not water-soluble.
Ideal to remove tar, bitumen and most solvent-based glue and stains from any solvent resistant surface, Tar and Glue Remover is commonly used for cleaning vehicle surfaces of road tar and bitumen and removing glue residue from glass windows and PVC door and window frames.
For use in car valeting and the automotive and transport industries, Tar and Glue Remover can also be used for general janitorial and building maintenance.

    Losers.

I’ve got the iM squeegee from Apple. It cost a bomb & I had to queue up at midnight to get it, but it looks fab!

Gwaredd, the problem with the apple im squeegee is that it has a blunt egde very much like a felt squeegee, this is OK for graphics that don’t need application tape but for run of the mill application jobs you would be much better off with the apple air squeegee which has a much sharper edge like a regular squeegee.
Unfortunately I don’t think it comes in an "M" version at the moment.
