No need for a red outline on black text, it only makes it look blurry.
Laundry list runs very close to the sides, and the layout could benefit from the use of a border.

Here’s a suggestion using a quick trace of yours.
And I am glad you used the tagline I suggested to you awhile back.
(it absolutely kills me to stretch the font in Graphix but I wanted to show you something with more contrast)
I also deleted some of your bullets, the original has more than a fence post at the OK Corral!

took me a while that one 😀 very good, Jill thats a better layout however (and you wouldnt know coz u have funny numbers that side of the pond) I would space mobile as 07761 500 902

Ps Nicholas presume youre registered for number plates otherwise best not mentioned 🙄

Are you registered with DVLA to do number plates? If not then I would replace that with something else. The other thing is do you not have a landline number you can use for your business, mobile only businesses will put some potential customers off.

John, maybe it depends on where you are located and how long you have been in business. Without trying to discriminate in anyway it would appear that areas where you get a lot of traveling people are more suspicious of mobile only numbers, thats how I see it anyway.

Plus you have a business that has been trading long enough that you can give examples of your work and probably have a good portfolio for any new customers and an existing customer base.

Or maybe I’m just an old fart and need to catch up with the times :lol1:

IMHO that’s a very fair point…not the old bit, the mobile bit 😉

I must be an old (PARDON ME) too Martin because I dislike seeing a cell number on a business sign.
…and in my defense I only spaced the # the way the original poster did.

Me too I’m afraid – if there was a choice id always go for dial a land-line for a service before a mobile.

Takes time and proving who you are to set up a land line – anyone can buy a mobile and get leaflets printed and distribute within an hour and be gone the next day. – Just my opinion!

No website? I appreciate that its possibly not your first thought – but a lot of people like to see your work before they pick up the phone and the website ticks that box nicely.

Its also advertising for free 🙂

fantastic this is most important as it often overcomes the mobile phobia

Nicholas I did the same thing for the same reason when I started also it helps if youre a one man band that you never miss a business call when on site. I know you can divert phones etc but when youre starting out Its not a priority IMHO compared to networking marketing etc etc

You can still have a landline without your mother and father getting hassled by work calls all the time, either have a second line put in or get yourself something like a skype in number.

In fact if you have something like BT broadband they give you a second number with the hub phone.

I know John would say you don’t need one and I would respect anything that John says, he has been a very helpful member of the forum for a long time but look at just how many people have answered to say that they wouldn’t phone a mobile only business.

I would have to agree with the mobile number point. I would rather see a local phone number (I’m allergic to 0800 numbers too) than a mobile as it does at least give the impression that you have a permanent base to work from, even if you don’t. It shouldn’t cost a lot to have a second line installed and have it divert to your mob when you’re out. That said however, I would say a website is more important at this point. I always think that its easier to remember a URL than a phone number.

Jill has basically hit the nail on the head in terms of layout.

As far as mobile numbers go, australia is one of the top 25 users of mobile phone, per capita, in the world. Not as much as England though (#9) http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/med_m … ile-phones

I haven’t advertised a landline since 1996, on my advertising.

Only advertise my free call number for interstate enquiries, and then most people ask for my mobile number anyway.

Interesting how different countries view things.

as you were, back to the thread now 😳

Its funny you saying that Martin, I would be wary of just a mobile number.
All the travellers i have ever seen (we have a good few round here) don’t have mobiles numbers they all use 0800 numbers.

I really had a chuckle at the mention of Mum and Dad.
If you are old enough to run a sign business you are old enough to afford a dedicated land line. Maybe one which rings only to voice mail at night and off hours.
Glad to hear you are getting a website, it is one of the best advertising tools in my arsenal.
And if I had customers calling my cell phone I would change the #, that is just for me. I have already done that once.
I have a sister who gives out both my home and cell # to people when I have had the same damn sign phone # since 1989.

Simon, I’ve come across the 0800 numbers as well so I know what your talking about but most round our way use mobile numbers, same van different number each time.
