  • Advice on cutting 2mm stripes on a Graphtec Cutter?

Posted by Harry Cleary on March 15, 2011 at 3:08 pm

Just setting up some cutting for later on. Am I mad to attempt to cut 2mm x 1m stripes on the Graphtec?
I know you can buy this on a roll but its an emergency.

not mad at all harry, but put them in the middle of 5mm box (weed border) if you are using apptape, it helps to keep them a straight when applying and you can use the edge as a guide, if that makes sense

Thanks for the quick rely Peter, I understand what you are saying but client puts these on by eye. He may find a big difference trying to keep 2mm rather than his usual 5mm straight though. 😀

Just while I am on the subject, whenever I try to cut long straight runs the cutter has a tendency to randomly cut through the backing paper..not an awful lot but enough to be annoying.
I have played with pressure setting but then it randomly doesn’t cut at all. Do I just have to live with it?

if your graphtec has a vertical encoder strip in the knife holder mech, then give it a blast of air. a bit of dirt on that will give different depths throughout a cut.
and or a uneven cutting strip.

Harry I regularly cut theses on my graphtec for repairs at the body shops, never had a problem.
