  • advice on blackboard paint please?

    Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice on blackboard paint as it seems some are not suitable for liquid chalk markers. i.e. very difficult to remove & some won’t take regular chalk.

I have a customer who had an old pavement blackboard sign which blew over & got damaged. He has asked if I can replace the board. The current one is 19mm thick foamex with what appears to be lightly textured blackboard vinyl.

I have the foamex but I’m thinking of using blackboard paint, either spray or brush on.

Does anyone have any experience of using these paints for exterior signs & whether they are suitable for using both regular chalk & also liquid chalk markers.

Alternatively are the blackboard vinyls suitable for both?

    regards
    Myles

Not sure i can help much mate… we use blackboard & dry-wipe vinyl which i "think" comes from Metamark. works well and we have never had any complaints.

we have, many moons ago, used blackboard paint. yes, it works well also but i cannot be faffed about these days with painting boards, drying time, second coat etc. what "i think" you may need to be careful is that it wont crack, or maybe even wont key properly on the likes of foamex.
