Hi guys, I’m looking for really sticky vinyl to be used on hockey helmets, I’ve been selling a load of logos and numbers but I’m not totally convinced on the durability,

I run a BN-20 so 500mm roll or cutting service available required

I know fine well that nobody does take this into account, thats even if they are aware of it, but….
You have to be careful when selling stickers for helmets because the adhesive on the sticker can have adverse effects to the helmet shell itself over time. I know this from when i was a kid racing my bike and always warned about putting stickers on our expensive bike helmets. I thought all this was old-hat and no longer applied but then read somewhere that this type of thing had reared its head again when Michael Schumacher crashed skiing and they recon his GoPro mounted helmet cam stuck on by a double sided adhesive foam pad was possibly the reason for the helmet splitting in half in his crash. I don’t think it was ever proven but still…

anyway, i would imagine most Gloss helmets will accept a decent grade vinyl sticker.
you could look at the low energy type vinyl media but ide not advise it just based on what i said above. thats just my opinion though, doesn’t mean i am correct!

Yeah understand where your coming from rob, in my spray painting days I was weary when asked to paint helmets in fact I never did, solvent based paints onto thin plastic shell that had been keyed, didn’t sound a rear idea, but these ice hockey players goalies especially love a sprayjob, pros are even having theirs wrapped, the gear is abused, I play myself, if go pro etc sell m sticky pads for mounting etc il worry once they stop.

Only one I know of is Metamark MDP200 – it has a waterbased adhesive, there will not degrade the plastic of the helmet.
We use it on site helmets after a lot of research and speaking to the helmet manufacture we was informed waterbased adhesives are safe.
