Good afternoon everyone! ive recently signed up and im after abit of info or thoughts on equipment.
Currently im using a flat bed plotter for cutting vinyls and some PVC materials, Im looking into purchasing a new flatbed UV printer with an 8×4 bed and potentially a new flatbed plotter of the same size bed.
Would it be a good idea to go down this route as the plotter will be able to cut vinyls and pretty much most substrates. But we already have an axis, pacer and cnc for timber cutting. of which the first two are pretty old!
my thoughts are that it would be more effective and easier to have a printer and flatbed cutter to for example do one job of printing to foamex first then cutting on the plotter after, rather than precut the shape then print.
what do most people do in this situation or what would anyone recommend? i have been advised that it would be more suitable to have both running side by side.
    Thanks!
    😀

I don’t have flat beds but from what I know you always print with a bleed then cut the shape out with the cnc cutter.

Would be very difficult to load pre cut substrates into the printer and getting them to align perfectly.

If your going to get a flat bed printer you’d want the finishing cnc cutter along with it to offer the full array of services.

thanks for the reply, from what ive been told the printer can deal with either, precut or square sheet and roll materials. also the plotter perhaps would have an slight advantage over an CNC as it would be able to cut different materials and comes with a camera for alignment.
do you have an example of a CNC finisher so i can do a comparison.
i currently have an aristo plotter and would be looking to replace it with the newer bigger version which has a multihead.
